Peels

The aptly named chemical peel removes the top layer(s) of the skin via a chemical reaction in order to reveal younger-looking, clearer skin below the surface while encouraging collagen production. A wide variety of chemical peels are available at Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care to ensure that the right peel is recommended just for you. Options include Jan Marini Peels, VI peels, Glytone peels, and SkinMedica peels. Each type differs by what it targets, the intensity of the treatment/peeling it delivers and how much or little downtime it produces.

Jan Marini Peel System

Every chemical peel is unique, but all work by removing the top layer(s) of skin to reveal “new,” more youthful skin below the surface while also stimulating collagen production. The Jan Marini Peel Systems include the Clarify, Refine, and Transform peels, each guaranteeing optimal results with just a limited number of applications (exact number of sessions varies per client for individualized results). Each of these peels requires two steps for maximum results, combining a high concentration of acids, antioxidants, retinol, and peptides.

The Jan Marini Peel Systems are geared towards treating the most requested areas including the face, neck, chest, and hands. Only available at medical offices, these are considered “lighter” peels compared to others and therefore have limited downtime. Every Peel System can offer comprehensive rejuvenation and minimize fine lines and wrinkles—and every peel is suitable for all skin types and tones. Other Jan Marini peels are specifically for treating darker skin tones, oily skin, to achieve resurfacing, or to address specific issues such as acne.

VI Peels

VI Peels include the VI Original, VI Peel Precision Plus, VI Peel Purify Precision Plus, and VI Peel Advanced. These peels are great choices for melasma, acne, acne-related pigmentation changes as well as skin rejuvenation. By offering a variety of different types and levels of peels, you can rest easy knowing that any skin type may be suitable for a chemical peel. At Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care, we offer a wide variety of different chemical peels from the leading brands so that you can get matched with the ideal peel for your skin and goals.

SkinMedica Peel System

Yes, it is imperative to be hyper-vigilant about sun protection and avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks after a peel. During this period, that new skin is especially vulnerable to UV rays. How long is the recovery period from a chemical peel?2020-11-04T10:50:21-07:00

Chemical peels, regardless of the maker or brand, can usually be divided into light, medium, or deep peels. Unsurprisingly, a light peel requires much less downtime than a deep peel. Light peels might require no downtime at all. For example, the Illuminize peel by SkinMedica is many times referred to as the “Red Carpet Peel” as it delivers healthy glow without any peeling. And therefore, is very popular choice before any events or photoshoots where beautiful glowing skin is desired. With medium peels the average recovery period ranges between 5-7 days.
