Chemical Peels Kick-Start Summer

There are so many chemical peels available—how can you choose the best one for you? Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care offers only the most effective and safest chemical peels for all skin types so that you can get the skin you deserve. Zuzana Likar has personally trained every staff member to her exacting standards, which means you can rest easy knowing that your chemical peel has been selected and customized just for you. A chemical peel is just what it sounds like: It “peels” away the top layer(s) of skin to kick-start collagen production and reveal the more youthful skin below the surface. You will start to see results within one week of some peels, but the full effect can take up to three months to be revealed.

Chemical peels do use chemicals to achieve this effect, and that means it’s critical that you are matched with the best peel for you. Not all skin tones and types are suitable for all peels. For example, some clients with darker skin tones are not suited for peels that can cause permanent lightening of the skin. A medical day spa is the best place to get your peel because you know the level of expertise and training behind each treatment.

Which Chemical Peel is For You

We offer Glytone peels, VI peels, and SkinMedica peels. These three systems provide incredible results with relatively little downtime. You may recognize the SkinMedica name—it is one of the medical-grade skin care companies available at your MediSpa. There are three types of SkinMedica peels including Illuminize, Vitalize, and Rejuvenize. They differ in strengths so that the perfect peel for your skin needs can be selected. Each of the SkinMedica peels targets different exfoliation depths so that you can address skin laxity, scarring, lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and much more.

There are two Glytone peels available. One uses salicylic acid and the other glycolic acid. They are both rejuvenating peels designed to turn back the clock and address wrinkles, sun damage, and poor skin tone. Salicylic peels can even help with acne and lingering signs of acne’s past, such as hyperpigmentation and scarring.

Getting Matched with a Chemical Peel

VI Peels come in a variety of options including VI Peel Purify Precision Plus and VI Peel Advanced. You can treat acne, melasma, and signs of acne with these peels. We offer so many options because we know every client is different and your needs change over the years. Available in light and medium depths, chemical peels can be a great option for undoing skin damage and preparing your skin for other treatments. In some cases, a chemical peel can even help delay the need for a more aggressive treatment or procedure.

Downtime for all of these peels is minimal, ranging from virtually no downtime to simply looking a little pink and “flaky” for up to 10 days. These are not the hyper-aggressive peels that require complete reclusiveness while you heal. There will be no open wounds and most clients feel comfortable going about their daily tasks right after their appointment.

What Chemical Peels Treat

Chemical peels help with the most common of skin complaints including redness, large pores, scars, poor texture or skin tone, lines and wrinkles, photo aging, and they can even help keep active acne in check and reduce future breakouts. Both men and women of all ages can benefit from routine chemical peels and the start of summer is the perfect time to get started on your personalized regimen.

We often think of chemical peels as being used on the face, but they can be applied just about anywhere on the body. They are most often requested on areas that have sun damage including the neck, chest, tops of the hands, and the collarbone. Many clients book chemical peels throughout the year in order to maintain clear, glowing skin and it can be a special treat that you look forward to every few weeks.

Complimentary consultations are available for chemical peels and all cosmetic treatments. Learn more or book your appointment at Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care today by completing the online form or calling the office.
