CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting is a revolutionary approach to freezing away targeted fat with a completely non-invasive technology. It is a highly requested treatment at Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care for those who are at or near their goal weight and want to contour and sculpt their bodies and face, tackling the most stubborn areas where fat tends to cling or for those clients that have small discrete deposits of fat that are non-responsive to diet or exercise.
CoolSculpting can be adapted to treat most areas on the face and body. For example, Cool Advantage and Cool Advantage plus is used for treating the body, while CoolMini is a great option for tackling stubborn fat under the chin, also known as submental fat. CoolSmooth is primarily used for the outer thighs aka saddlebags.
Together, the entire suite of “Cool” technology can treat:
- Submental fat (the double chin)
- Abdomen
- Inner and Outer Thighs
- Inner or medial knee
- Upper arms
- Banana roll
- Love handles
- Bra roll

How CoolSculpting Works
CoolSculpting works by permanently freezing away unwanted fat cells using no scalpels, knives, or needles. Every person is born with a unique number of fat cells and fat distribution, largely determined by genetics. Diet and exercise can shrink fat cells, but it cannot remove them. Anyone who has ever tried to spot reduce knows that it is impossible with diet and exercise alone, CoolSculpting can help.
CoolSculpting Applicators and Sessions
In the 1970s, researchers discovered that children who ate a lot of frozen Popsicles tended to have less fat on their face than their peers also known as popsicle panniculitis. This was the foundation for the discovery of cryolipolysis, or the understanding that at the perfect freezing temperature fat “dies.” CoolSculpting has a number of applicators that can be used to target only unwanted fat in the body and face so that results are fully customizable. On average, about 3 – 6 CoolSculpting sessions are required per treatment site to achieve optimal results.

What To Expect With CoolSculpting
After your CoolSculpting treatment, the area will be numb, and you will experience some swelling. The body will then begin to metabolize the frozen fat cells, this happens in the lymphatic system which eliminates fat cells via waste. A slower reduction in fat cells helps the skin adjust to the newer, more slender you, which drastically decreases any risk of skin laxity from occurring).
CoolSculpting is not a fat loss procedure and is designed to be a contouring and sculpting treatment. This means you won’t see a large drop on the scale. A better way to gauge your results is with before and after photos, as well as taking various body measurements or trying on clothing previously to tight or small to wear. CoolSculpting takes a slow and steady approach, with visible results 8 weeks after your first treatment. This allows the skin time to adjust to a newer, more svelte you and minimizes the risks of skin laxity.
Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care offers a large gallery of CoolSculpting before and after photos, so you know exactly what to expect with your own results. The science of CoolSculpting is proven and speaks for itself, but nothing compares to a photo to see exactly what could be in store for you. And remember – we all come in different shapes and sizes, so number of treatments will vary person to person as well.

FAQs About CoolSculpting
Technically, once fat is removed from the body it is gone for good*. This is true whether the fat is removed via liposuction or frozen away with CoolSculpting or melted with Vanquish Me. However, this does not mean that a client cannot gain weight in the future. Remaining fat cells will continue to grow or shrink depending on their diet, exercise, and lifestyle. It is possible that future weight gain might cause the appearance of increased weight in the CoolSculpted (or liposuctioned) area. Maintaining a healthy weight is always important, regardless of past treatments.
The best CoolSculpting candidates are at or close to their goal weight or ones with discrete area of fat needing attention. Remember that CoolSculpting is not a weight loss procedure, but rather a contouring and sculpting treatment.
No. In fact, most clients spend their session catching up on a favorite show, working, checking emails, or scrolling through their phone. Some describe CoolSculpting as a bit of an odd sensation, since the targeted area does need to be “separated” from the surrounding area (this can feel similar to a suction device placed on the skin).
