Dermal Fillers Can Do More Than You Think

Dermal Fillers Can Do More Than You Think | Palo Alto Laser & Skin Care

If you’re just starting to think about getting dermal fillers, you might think they’re “just” for the lips—but they can do so much more. Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care carries all of the best and safest hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers including Juvederm, Restylane, and more. Most dermal fillers are made with HA, which is already synthesized in your body. HA is what makes the skin plump in all the right ways, but we produce less of it as we age. Using an HA dermal filler can restore the volume you’ve lost over the years or give you the plumpness you always wanted.

We often think of aging as the accumulation of lines and wrinkles, but that’s just part of it. While lines and wrinkles do occur because of sun damage, recurring expressions (like smile and frown lines), and gravity, it’s also caused by a loss of volume. Dermal fillers in the cheeks, temples, and along the jawline are all popular injection sites because they restore the look of a more youthful face. As the leader of a premium medical day spa, Zuzana Likar trains every staff member and the injector to her exacting standards because the skill of the professional injecting your dermal filler is just as important as being matched with the right filler for your needs.

Different Dermal Fillers

Juvederm is one of the most well-known dermal fillers and the makers offer a suite of options. Juvederm Vollure XC is fantastic for plumping skin if you have moderate to severe folds and wrinkles. It lasts up to 18 months, which is quite long for an HA product! In fact, it’s the longest-lasting Juvederm filler, one of the most aggressive for signs of aging, and has typically been linked with less inflammation during the injection.

Juvederm Volbella XC is just for the lips and nearby area. On average, this dermal filler lasts for about one year. The injection includes a local anesthetic to ensure a more comfortable filler experience. It both plumps the lips and fills in lines. There’s also Juvederm Voluma XC, which is designed for deep injection in the cheeks. It lifts those fallen apples for a rejuvenated look. This product has been shown to last up to two years, but about 12 – 16 months is a more typical timeframe. Plus, if you love Juvederm’s Voluma XC (as many do!) then you know you often need less of this product for future maintenance sessions.

Juvederm Joy

You might be a good fit for Juvederm Ultra XC, which is a lighter dermal filler for those who want fuller lips and have relatively smooth, wrinkle-free skin. It’s a favorite for younger clients and is known for providing plump yet natural-looking lips. In clinical trials, 79 percent of clients saw a “major improvement” in lip fullness and 78 percent said they “loved the appearance and feel” of their lips even one year after their treatment. It lasts one year on average.

However, if you want something a little more dramatic, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC might be in order. It’s a denser filler that can be injected at a deeper level. Thicker than Ultra XC, it can be applied beyond the boundaries of its gentler “cousin” filler. The viscosity of this product is what really makes the difference and allows it to get even more plumpness, lift, and a stunning result.

Other Fillers

It’s impossible to go over every dermal filler we offer because we’re dedicated to providing our clients with every safe option. Restylane is a fan favorite for many, especially if you’re looking for an HA filler to help with those nasolabial folds. It also offers one of the few dermal fillers that is approved to bring back the volume on the backs of the hands (which tend to give away our age as much as our face).
