Redefining the Facial | Palo Alto Laser & Skin Care

Most people have a pretty solid idea of what a facial entails. At Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care, we offer the most advanced forms of facials including the HydraFacial Elite, the famed 3-step approach to skin care that cleanses, exfoliates, and extracts, and finally floods the face with custom-picked high-grade skin care products. This is what many people think of when they book a facial, and a HydraFacial Elite is certainly a luxurious treatment. However, Zuzana Likar wants clients to know that there are more to facials in Palo Alto. They might go by a different name, but when it comes to skin care you have plenty of options.

Chemical peels are also considered a form of “facials.” In fact, Zuzana recommends chemical peels to most patients as a means of “peeling away” old, aged, damaged skin. A light or superficial peel on a routine basis (every three months or so) can keep skin youthful and glowing. These mild peels are customized for your specific needs and goals, and many are suitable for all skin tones and types. Not only do peels reveal healthier skin below the surface, but they also stimulate collagen production for results that keep improving over time.

Laser Facials

More commonly called laser skin rejuvenation, you can actually use lasers and other such devices to achieve a “facial.” In fact, many lasers—such as Clear + Brilliant—are specifically designed for the face and neck. Today, many lasers aren’t lasers at all, but rather energy-based devices designed to address a wide variety of skin issues. A gentle laser-like broadband light (BBL) or IPL can work wonders in reducing lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and other common concerns.

Some clients are wary of using lasers, especially on their face, because maybe they’ve seen the healing required of a more intense laser. Today’s lasers are often equal parts gentle and powerful. There is virtually no downtime required for an IPL or BBL treatment, and clients can simply expect to look a little sun-kissed after their treatment. Gone are the days when damaging the top layer of skin is a requirement for an effective laser treatment. Today, laser facials can bypass the epidermis to treat the real signs of aging hiding below the surface (think brown spots, laxity, and lines).

For Those Who Want a Quick and Easy Treatment

The classic idea of a “facial” is alluring because it suggests pampering, a gentle touch, and no downtime. That’s a must for those who are on the go and don’t have time to spare for a recovery period. However, such gentle traditional facials don’t typically provide dramatic results. The one exception is the HydraFacial Elite thanks to its 3-step innovative process.

If you’re wary of anything more “aggressive” than a traditional facial, it’s time to experience the gentle touch of the many other facials in Palo Alto. Superficial chemical peels are often so soft that clients can immediately get back to their lives without worry. It’s the medium and deep peels that will demand some downtime, and most clients don’t need such intensive peels to achieve the results they want.

The same is true of lasers. There are many kinds of lasers, and as your leading laser center in Palo Alto we are proud to carry all of the top options. This includes more invasive lasers for serious correction but also a number of hyper-gentle lasers—including lasers for “pre-juvenation” rather than correction.

Choosing the Right Facial for You

There is one universal truth shared by those interested in a facial: they want to correct issues on the face. There are many ways to do this! We will work with you to determine your goals and needs, and then match you with an action plan that might include the HydraFacial Elite, a peel, laser, or even all three! Combining treatments is often the best way to get the best, sustainable results.
