Tattoo Removal

Thanks to the latest in laser technology and tattoo removal, your ink doesn’t have to be forever. At Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care, you will find one of the largest collections of laser and light technologies in the area, and only the best lasers are used for tattoo removal. This includes the Candela PicoWay and Alex TriVantage.

The efficient removal of tattoos as well as pigmented lesions requires leading laser technologies. Laser tattoo removal works via a series of short pulses of intense light (more photoacoustic effect in the case of Picoway) that harmlessly passes through the superficial layers of the skin to be absorbed by the tattoo or pigmented lesions. The pigment is broken into tiny particles that the body’s immune system will safely remove in the weeks following the treatment. This means that the pigment is dissolved without damaging nearby tissue and skin.

Technologies For Tattoo Removal

Palo Alto Laser and Skin Care is a laser center, offering the best technologies to treat your specific condition. As the newest tattoo removal device available, the PicoWay laser is the current gold standard for removing tattoo ink. Numerous clinical studies have shown that the PicoWay laser can remove multi-colored tattoos, including more stubborn colors such as green and blue.

The Alex TriVantage and Picoway lasers also treats multi-colored tattoos and benign pigmented lesions and birthmarks.

Introducing The PicoWay Laser

The PicoWay laser is gentler than laser tattoo technologies of the past, which means a more comfortable experience. Clients can also always request topical numbing or Pro-Nox during their tattoo removal session for increased comfort, which is a blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen that is controlled by the patient, if needed.

PicoWay Resolve is a great treatment option for reducing acne scarring in just three sessions, minimizing wrinkles, and of course, erasing benign pigmented lesions. There is little to no downtime when using PicoWay lasers, and most sessions require just 15 – 20 minutes (though the size of the tattoo will determine the exact treatment length). Skin is left intact with the PicoWay laser, which means you can immediately return to your daily life without any significant side effects.

The PicoWay system includes:

  • Zoom 532/1064nm,730 and 785nm wavelengths for tattoo removal
  • The New Resolve Fusion 532nm handpiece for fast and effective treatment of benign pigmented lesions
  • Resolve 532/1064 nm for treatment of wrinkles and acne scars

Six different handpieces with variety of wavelengths make customizing the experience with the PicoWay laser easier. The ultra-short picosecond pulses of the laser are also 100 times shorter than some other lasers used for tattoo removal, bringing the pulses down to trillionths of a second.

Tattoo Removal Treatment and Recovery

Tattoo removal typically requires several treatments because it takes time for the body to absorb and expel the shattered ink. The exact number of sessions you will require depends on a number of factors, but you will receive an estimate during your complimentary consultation. Your expert laser specialist will also have a solid understanding of how your body responds to laser tattoo removal after the first session.

The process of a tattoo removal is often described as feeling similar to actually getting a tattoo. Clients who have already undergone that initial tattoo typically know what to expect in terms of discomfort. However, know that we always put patient comfort and safety first, offering options to increase comfort whenever possible. From Pro-Nox to numbing creams, removing a tattoo does not have to feel the same as getting a tattoo.
